Firetail Series

I was just fooling around with wing designs and came up with one that worked quite well. I have modified the craft into 4 different versions, each slightly better in one area than another. Here they are! The speeds given are all at low altitudes.

Mods Note:

All aircraft require the Mk-II fuselage bicoupler by JellyCubes, and (do to some poor planning) the Firetail Mk-II and Mk-IV designs require the Kosmos Angara mod for struts that were used (and extremely hard to remove without starting over).

Firetail Mk-I

Max Speed: ~150m/s

Maneuverability: Average

This was the original design. It has fairly good handling and can both glide and land quite easily, however there are certain maneuvers that can completely throw it into a death spiral.

Firetail Mk-II

Max Speed: ~150m/s

Maneuverability: Excellent

This next design just added another set of wings to generate more lift, giving it the ability to execute far more maneuvers without fault or sacrificing speed and it glides much better.

Firetail Mk-III

Max Speed: ~150m/s

Maneuverability: Good

This design again just adds yet another set of wings, generating huge amounts of lift. Unfortunately the maneuverability decreases a bit but it is the most stable craft yet and can glide huge distances. I have even destroyed a tail fin, 2 rows of wings on one side and 1 on the other and it was still able to land without much trouble!

Firetail Mk-IV

Max Speed (Low Atmo): ~180m/s

Max Speed (Upper Atmo): ~600-700m/s

Maneuverability: Good

Essentially the Mk-II with TurboJet engines, the Mk-IV can operate at far greater altitudes and at higher speeds, however this increase in speed sacrifices some of the maneuverability of the Mk-II.

This version also comes with a large carrier to get it to higher altitudes without wasting fuel. It is advisable to aim the carrier slightly below the horizon before detaching to avoid misfortune.

Here they all are side by side.

I don\'t have any stats on their range because I\'m not patient enough to sit and fly in a straight line until all the fuel runs out, but if anyone finds out I\'d love to know!

I may work on more versions and add them later. Feedback is much appreciated!
