Launchpad Destroying Overhauls

As some food for thought for you modders who are thousands of times more experienced than me, how about some better mechanics for launchpad destruction?

Better Fire Mechanics
Let's say you have a rocket. Your rocket is so powerful it sets fire to the launch pad. Your rocket, however, sets there and gets all warm and toasty in the fire before launching to the Mun. This should not happen, of course. The rocket should fail if it is engulfed in flames. At the very least, it should cause some sort of failure down the road. Could there be a way to implement this into the game?

Water systems
When your rocket ultimately cooks and falls to the ground you have a raging fire on your hands. "What will I ever do?" you might thing. But before you can finish that thought the fire puts itself out. "Well that was a little silly." Yes, yes it was. Could there be a system to spray water on the fire when the launch pad catches on fire? Could it be toggled? Could it be a part?

3. Big ol' pile of ash
Finally, when all that water puts out the raging fire your rocket caused, you sit there with a burnt down launchpad. No matter how big your rocket is, the debris is the same amount. Could there be a system where if your rocket is a certain mass, if will make more ash appear?

Yes, the 3rd point isn't formatted properly. It irritates me too.

Hopefully my ideas are not too insane. I hope this gives some ideas!

I like the idea, but I don't know how possible it would be as it could hurt performance. You'd also have to change models, and import others. It could be done though.

I doubt that performance would be too bad, especially if there will be performance updates with 1.1. I for one play on 64 bitplease don't lynch me and it's the most stable I have ever played KSP. I don't think that it would be too big of an issue on 64bit.

The water should probably not have actual water physics, that might impact performance a little too much.

You'll note those gigantic clouds of smoke coming out of the sides of the launch pad when launching? That's because underneath the lattice that forms the top of the launch pad there are angled banks that deflect the exhaust gases—including the heat—away from the launch pad.

Having water sprayers, as in real life, would be a nice-to-have though, perhaps with a cooling effect as well. But you'd have to add them to every launch, so assuming that they're already built into the launch pad is not such a far-fetched idea.
