How to subscribe to a topic without it showing your name on it?

I want to subscribe to a topic so I can follow the conversation, but I'm not ready to be in that conversation yet.  Unfortunately if I click the "Follow" link it plasters my name on the thread.  How do I stop this behavior?

 

Same question for the Like button.

Follow this, and uncheck the "Let others see that I follow this" box.

I don't know a way to "like" anonymously though.

Ah, thanks.  Well that is one down then, except it doesn't remember my choice so I have to do it every single time.  Is there a user setting that can force it to default off?

I'd still like a way to add reputation with only the receiver being able to see it.
