How? we are able to predict the movement of astroids and comets very well, so well we can intercept and land on them.
yes errors grow as time passes so its often hard to know if something becomes an impact or not especially after an close pass with another planet something who is not happening here.

Halley's Comet is in a RETROGRADE orbit, so intercepting it would be extra-hard.

I leave now to avoid a flamewar.

2061? An 80% chance? No way.

We cant even tell if a meteor is going to hit us a week out, let alone 45 years out. I call BS.

Halley's comet is a very well known object. Its trajectory is known in great detail. If it would pose any risk in the future, either in 2061 or after we would know it.

On a more serious note. If ANY object was discovered that would pose a thread to earth you'll learn about it through reliable media, NASA, SETI and the likes. Even your local 18:00 o'clock news is more reliable than some random websites.

Phil Plait, the 'Bad Astronomer' recently wrote a blog about a very similar subject: http://www.slate.com/blogs/bad_astronomy/2015/12/21/asteroid_2003_sd220_passes_earth_on_christmas_eve.html. You may find it interesting.

Quote from the supporting article:

" Uranus Puckering at that moment may have had catastrophic consequences for us here on Earth"

Sounds like a real pain in the butt!

At least there have been no reports of Klingons, despite their claim it will Wipeout earth.

I just read that last night, how interesting!

Anyways, as has been said before it's in a retrograde prbit making collisions near-impossible.
