Invert Pitch/Yaw/Roll input on control surfaces

Recommended Posts

Seriously. I'm so annoyed right now because I can't make a flying wing design work for whatever reason.

Just look at this! Whenever I hold 'S' it just pitches down (and no, I didn't change anything in my input settings. It's all as it should be):

It would also be great to have horizontal ctrl srfs to act as Yaw. Basically what FAR does, except in stock and maybe simpler.

Its been awhile since I played stock, but you mean to tell me you can't segregate control surfaces like with FAR?

Anyway... I do see some issues here FAR or not. Are those control surfaces on the edge of the wing the only ones you have? There all I can see. It's good to have a set for roll, pitch and yaw, but if you can't designate that then... I don't know.

But what you do have looks off. Are you holding W in this picture? Those flaps look like there already pitching down which can't help. Also there extreme angle is probably causing an issue as well.

I recommend tweaking your design and... Install FAR :P

Also what do flying wing designs do to avoid side slip without fins controlling yaw?

Sorry, but I didn't post this thread to ask questions about my design. I know how to make a flying wing. I've been doing them for quite a while with FAR and pWings installed. The one presented in the picture is a quick and dirty example on which I wanted to present the issue I'm having. The problem with stock game is the fact that I can't replicate even the simplest thing that resembles a blended body wing, or any similar design. And it could be fixed with simply inverting the output of control surfaces.

I stated that I was holding S at the time of taking the picture and even the pitch input is there in bottom left corner.

Oh I see my apologies.

And yet the control surface is pitching down. Unless... This is the issue you speak of. Why would you need inverted controls on a flying wing design? Maybe I'm the one that needs the explanation lol.

It's only an example. I was also refering to horizontal yaw control.

Okay I see what your saying now about yaw. But why try to make it work in stock? Is FAR giving you issues?

Because I can't really see a workaround if you can't segregate controls in stock. Again it's been awhile since I've played in the stock atmosphere, so...

However your having an issue with pitch as well? You say in your op the S key pitches you down. Care to elaborate?

I've had a similar issue with a more conventional design, where the pitch controls seem to invert on their own. Reverting the craft to launch. or back to the hangar, and relaunching has sometimes fixed it. It may be that the control surface is getting confused about the craft's center of mass. I've even had the inversion issue happen after the takeoff roll and getting into the air. I have a few mods installed, I don't remember if it happened with both FAR and without.

This looks like it's the same issue with the swept wings where the attachment point is in front of the CoM, but the control surface is behind. KSP messes up in this situation and fails to invert the control properly (it thinks it is still in front of the CoM).

Though I would like to see a top down view of this craft. I don't recall seeing one with wing segments extended that far (that many segments) and the control fails to invert properly.

@Veeltch About your yaw comment. The surfaces do act in yaw, but unfortunately they don't split right to do what you want. I'm not sure how stock could incorporate that feature while still being "simple." Maybe a clearer example of what you are thinking for this feature?

Brake rudders. Just like in FAR. The A.I.R.B.R.A.K.E. already has that functionality. It would be nice if all control surfaces had the ability to do the same.
