Kerbal Dynamics: The Kessel Run

Recommended Posts

I first tried the y8 launch window to Eeloo, The problem with that was that the Dres and Duna transfers where really bad.

In the y6 window the Kerbin->Eeloo->Jool  take slightly longer but Jool->Dres->Duna is faster.  As you can see the illustration @ihtoit made, I flew Kerbin->Eeloo->Jool->Dres->Duna in 3/4 of a lap around Kerbol.

@Nefrums Yeah, I had a chance to see that before I had to terminate my test (my fuel run out at Jool and I didn't have a refueling station yet). But I am thinking that a bad Dres transfer is still better than staying so long in the very outmost reaches of the solar system... I Have to test that this afternoon...

What is the proper order while Jool is further than eloo (the 8-ish year window)

Eeloo is generally accepted as the outermost planet even though its orbit does fall inside that of Jool, but like Pluto before it was demoted, it's still the outermost even when it is physically inside. So if you're going outside in, Eeloo is your first stop, if you're going inside out, Eeloo is your last stop before burning for home.
