ghost text (or multiple layers of text)

This is something I've observed quite a few times, but this is the first time I've actually got something to show.

Look at the second line of text in this screenshot, see how some of the letters are messed up or look smushed together

What's actually happening here is there are two instances (or layers) of the text!! One which you can alter and another which you can't interact with. When the two layers differ in content you get this odd effect.

What steps to repeat this you ask? Sadly I can't say, I've not found a repeatable way of making this happen, BUT it's most likely to happen when moving text about (with ctrl+x, ctrl+v) or right-clicking to correct spelling.

I would guess that this is an artefact of the WYSIWIG editor and some of the "clever" things it tries to do.

Hmm, do let me know if you can find a way to repeat this. Are you copy/pasting text with formatting? If so what hapens if you remove that formatting?

I shall do!
Sometimes, but it can happen without pasting formatted text.  correcting spelling with a right click on a red-underlined word seems to be the biggest culprit, but I can't give you steps to repeat.  I'll try to experiment and find how to make it happen.

Another thing that happens (which I think is related) is the text can become un-selectable (ctrl+a or shift + arrow keys or ctrl+shift+arrows won't select text). reloading the page cures it (and most of the time it preserves the text).
