I really enjoyed that video!   We were so innocent back then.  It is hard to believe that Apollo 8 actually circled the Moon only thirteen years after that video was shown, almost to the very day.  And I liked seeing a slide rule in Von Braun's pocket.  Who nowadays uses a slide rule?

They still required slide rules for engineering courses when I went to college. Calculators were strongly discouraged, as they had not been "proven" to be as accurate as a "slip-stick". I wish I still remembered how to use a slide rule, but you don't usually remember information you don't need to recall very often (or ever).

The future shown to us in propaganda (Jetsons, anybody) was wildly optimistic.

I collect them and use them from time to time. They're pretty handy for some types of calculations.

I don't actually collect them but I have a few, including a circular one.  I have never used them for work but I can do basic stuff on them.  I find them very handy for working fractions, proportions and conversions, such as Imperial to metric or currency exchange rates.
