Torrent based mod distributor?

it looks like a CKAN, but every mod(and versions) has a torrent file and when someone downloads a mod, it drags from someone who has it.

and clients seeding their downloaded/cached mods as seeder.

it that even possible? or it won't work?

The main issue with such a service is that some users have internet plans with data caps.

Call me a jerk, but I never seed torrents after I've finished downloading (because, you know, reasons), and I'm sure I'm not the only one. Also, data caps as mentioned above, and your download speeds depend on the number of people seeding the file.

It might work if there was a 24/7 server hosting all the torrents and uploading them at a certain minimum speed so you could still get the file you wanted even if there were no other seeds, but at that point you might as well ditch the whole torrent thing and just host the files as regular downloads.
