Another was the Apollo-style Moho challenge, which I failed to finish because I tried out video editing and capture at the same time and focused on other things instead of finishing the challenge.

That challenge was fun! Big missions, big launches, loooooong travel times. And if I recall correctly, I hit 89g re-entering Kerbin atmosphere.  Ah, pre-heating and souposphere...   ;)

I landed on Moho, roved away, and didn't finish.  I was really confident in finishing the mission too, plenty of fuel in my return vessel. :(

I think I did your Ike challenge too, landing near the monument (couldn't get on top of it because of fuel margins), pretty fun and a lot less involved than a Jool 5.

That's the real rub for me; I know I can do 99% of the challenges out there, it's just about how motivated I am.  Simpler challenges with less restrictions and time invested mean more participation.  Jool 5 is an exception, but I chalk that up to people equating it to a KSP capstone.  I've done similar things outside of challenges which is one of the reasons I never bothered with the challenge.

...Or something like that. Anyway, not entirely sure why this happens. I see plenty of half-decent challenges, and I'll admit I am a little jealous at times.

Der Anfang,

I should also point out that there is absolutely no reason to be jealous of the folks who administer the popular challenges out there. There's no up-side to them personally for having devised it, and it's really kind of a pain in the butt. Most of the discussions I see that lead up to popular challenges invariably hit a point where somebody says "that sounds like it needs to be a challenge. Now... who wants to administer it?"... immediately followed by crickets :D

I appreciate the folks who are willing to do that, but I definitely don't envy them.

Best,
-Slashy
