What are these three different temperatures?

Recommended Posts

FlightGlobals.getExternalTemperature() = FlightGlobals.getExternalTemperature(FlightGlobals.ActiveVessel.altitude)
FlightGlobals.ActiveVessel.atmosphericTemperature
FlightGlobals.ActiveVessel.externalTemperature

The last one gets really big when you start overheating, so I'm guessing it's the temperature of the craft and/or of the hot air just outside the craft.

The first one seems to always be 15 degrees on the launch pad, so I'm guessing it's some sort of theoretical average across the entire planet.

So the middle one would be the temperature of the atmosphere outside of the craft, and this is the one that should be used to compute density for aerodynamic drag.

Is that right, or am I confused?
