Gerry anderson: an inspiration to us all.

My first exposure to Gerry Anderson was when, at age five, I saw Supercar on Saturday Morning. I was so thrilled by the idea of a car that could go anywhere that I immediately began trying to draw the thing. Initially, very badly, but I had never stretched my creativity beyond filling in the coloring book with my crayons, before. Later came Fireball XL-5 and Stingray (I would be an adult before I even heard of Thunderbirds).

I suspect a lot of us wouldn't mind modeling some of these in KSP.

For me, the show i love the most is Thunderbirds :) But i liked Space Precinct very much too - too bad it was so short-lived. All in all - Mr. Anderson did a lot of awesome space stuff, that fueled many young imaginations around the world.

Perhaps more importantly for a teen-age boy; he brought us Gabrielle Drake in a tin foil mini skirt.

Hear, hear! Star Trek's miniskirt uniforms pale to insignificance by comparison.

ETA: There are some images not from UFO, but you can tell because nobody in those have purple hair. ;)

I LOVED Thunderbirds. Thunderbird wallpaper, Thunderbirds bedsheets, Thunderbirds curtains. I collected vouchers from cereal boxes and sent away for the matchbox toys. I read the weekly comic during its brief existence.

My god, when was the last time you were *that* into something...

Have you watched the first series of "Thunderbirds are Go!"? It's a very good remake - worthy of its predecessor :) Second series should start airing in couple of months.

I've watched one episode. I do love the way that even though its CGI they replicate the sort of awkward bumpiness that the original models had due to their scale, like TB2 just kinda rattles off its launch ramp as if someone had picked it up and moved it by hand, and engines have like giant sparks as if produced by the sort of pyrotechnic squibs used in the original too :)
