Yeah, I've tried making use of the WarpEngine a few times. 'worked fantastically' is not a phrase I'd have used to describe it. It broke action symmetry and physics in every individual part on the craft. Possibly because it pre-dates the current PartModule system; probably because it was something someone coded for fun and never finished. Yeah, it's in the game, sitting there unused, even by modders. Nobody even tries to do anything with it except in private.

That last bit was just plain weird. I'm selling the game short and limiting my imagination? Because I said that they're not going to take the game in the direction of having starships and whatnot? I don't even think a rational response is possible to that part of your posting.

That would be a neat trick considering it was never released with the game or to the community. What you played with was a community-built mod and therefore not made with precise knowledge of the gaming code.

As to your second point, yes. Because you said just that. Unless you have some crystal ball or are a part of the senior development team, you don't have a place to say what is and what is not going to be in the game.  The fact that you even said that says a lot that you feel that either such things have no place in the game or that you have zero confidence that Squad has the capability to do that. Feel free to express such points as opinion, but don't try to presume you know what is going on, especially when you make it evident you don't.

And don't try to play the part of all-knowing player. You are unsatisfied with the direction the game is taking, not the rest of us. Trying to sound like the voice of the players only makes you pretentious and self-entitled.  I am quite happy with what we have now and frankly would still be happy with the game if it stayed only taking place inside the Kerbin system.  You need to get over yourself and decide if KSP is even made for what you want out of the game. Have you tried Space Engineers which does come with FTL drives and the ability to build a ship to more your fancy?  No Man's Sky might also be up your alley. It is due to come out this summer, and might be worth a look.

Every single sentence in your post is wrong, demonstrates a complete lack of research on your part and betrays the very pretentiousness that you accuse me of. This is pretty much one of the most ridiculous things I've seen on these forums.

Firstly, the WarpEngine that you yourself mentioned has been part of KSP since at least KSP version 0.23 . It simply isn't used in any parts. But it is coded in the game. It's just a matter of creating a cfg file or copying one from an existing part. Change one line to change it from an ordinary part to a WarpEngine part. Remove any other existing functionality (such as engine modules, FX, etc).
