My suggestions for crew roster changes (Mostly to help models like myself)

1. Because Kerbals' classifications (Scientist, pilot, or engineer) are determined by name, it's just about impossible for mods to change them, or do just about anything with them.  For example, my mod Kustom Kerbals allows you to create your own Kerbal in game instead of having to edit the persistence file, but there's no way to change their classification.  If you could have the random Kerbal generator still do classifications off of names, but add a config node to each Kerbal in the persistence file to save that classification, allowing mods to edit it, and specify the role of a new protokerbal.  You could, of course, make it so Jebediah will always is a pilot, no matter what the config says, too.
2. Add the ability to specify whether a Kerbal is an orange suit, again with a config node.  Sometimes, there are certain Kerbals that get so experienced, that they mean more to you than Jeb.  It would be really nice to be able to specify, either through editing the persistence file, or using a mod, whether a Kerbal has an orange suit or not.  Of course, this one might have some controversy.

I would support the idea of having different colors of suits for different purposes, such as each Kerbal that is EVA'd has a different color of stripe to help distinguish them. Just having the ability to "promote" Kerbals to orange suits would also be pretty sweet to do.

Yeah, it was such a strange decision for them to link it to names. So inconvenient.
