Can you warp time without affecting game time?

Is there a way to warp time in the tracking center just for planning purposes, without actually affecting game time?

As to your question before going into the tracking center, hit ESC and select "Save Game".  Give the save a name like "For Instructional Purposes Only".  Warp all you want.  When you've seen what you need, go back to the space center.  Hit ESC and select "Load Game".  Select the file "For Instructional Purposes Only" (or whatever you called it) and go about your business.
