Orbital Undocking issues - Please help!

I've docked a skycrane with 2 rovers with a space station above Minmus

SS---}{-Skycrane <the squigqle brackets represent where the docking clamps are joining the space station and the skycrane

When I click on the "undock" button on the Clamp part on the Skycrane, one of 3 things will happen.  

1) The undocked skycrane begins to clip through the space station OR releases normally Scand floats off into space AND I cannot select the skycrane as an active craft

2) The undocked skycrane rips itself apart and all components go flying into space, the Space Station remains intact

3) The Space Station Core starts into a mad spin/rotation AND I cannot select the skycrane as an active craft as it floats away or rips itself apart

Note: Sometimes I'll exit to space center, proceed to the tracking station and try to select the skycrane as a separate craft but all I see is the original joined Space Station-Skycrane and when I try to fly it all I see is an Adapter piece and docking port floating in space

Help please!

I've tried using the bracket keys to select the skycrane/rover that i'm undocking but it tells me that there are no nearby objects to focus.  When I go to the tracking station I don't see 2 separate craft, just the original space station and when I try to fly it from there, this is what happens...

I'm trying to get two rovers on the ground on minmus to start building a modular base.  I can't seem to get past this point...

@TashAureus since it's been a day and no one has stepped in to help, allow me to try and get you some. 

I personally don't have the know-how to troubleshoot your issue, but those that do can do so more easily if they have the info requested in this thread:

That station/skycrane must have taken some time to build!

I've had problems with the Rockmax Brand Adapters blowing up for no apparent reason. I see that you are using a lot of resizing adapters.

Maybe try removing them temporarily to see if the problem goes away?

 

I'm not sure why you can't change focus to the skycrane after undocking, though. You do have crew or a working probe core on the skycrane, right?

It's very peculiar! The miniclamp on the skycrane attached to the SS has 'undock' as an option.  When I click it I can just barely make out something flying away at a very high velocity.  The Skycrane does have a probe core.  Oddly enough, when I 'decouple' one of the rovers, I can control it as an active craft and it shows up as a separate craft in the tracking station.  I wonder if the miniclamp junior on the SS axis extender is clipping into the fuselage I used to construct it.
