Scientific Feat

Recommended Posts

This is a pretty loose ended challenge, there isn\'t an exact written goal. The point is to do something that would be considered a major scientific accomplishment.

For example, I put a satellite in orbit equal with the mun, mimmus around the sun, and sent the main capsule on a sun escape trajectory. http://imgur.com/a/bLu2Z#0

The featiest feats will be carefully considered, randomly sorted, spun around a few times then chosen. Do your best to make Kerbal-kind proud!

My current featiest feat is my awesome kerbalcast system I did for fun. I haven\'t yet thought of anything more sciencey to beat it. I had shown as part of a moon base I set up. All near perfect circular orbits at the same altitudes for their planes.

I enter my Kubble Space Telescope or KST for short.

This is kind of an easy thing to do but I put a space telescope into orbit around Kerbal. The only mods that I used for this are...

Tiberion\'s NovaPunch 1.2 beta http://kerbalspaceprogram.com/forum/index.php?topic=4180.0 for its rockets and fairings (the game really needs fairings)

and Silisko Industries\' Probodobodyne DIY Kit 0.5 http://kerbalspaceprogram.com/forum/index.php?topic=6397.0 for the lightweight satellite parts.

For this launch no other mods where used and I got quite a stable orbit by hand without using RCS, well at least not to adjust the orbit. It has an orbit at around 611.3k with a total difference of 400m (200m either way).

With these pics I have it pointed at I assume to be the middle of the galaxy in Kerbal as seen in the 3rd pic (well at the very least a very large nebula). But due to the lightweightedness of the parts in the Probodobodyne parts mod, it makes this thing extremely easy to maneuver around. So if I want to point it at Mun then as long as it is visible to the scope I can point that way. What I was thinking of when I built and launched this is that I wanted to have a satallite that could maintain a visual on anything that I wanted launch into space.
