Reducing the amount of fuel an engine requires.

Hi everyone,

I am trying to modify an engine, so that its thrust remains the same, but it requires much less fuel per/second to achieve the same result.

How can I do this?

is it just a matter of changing the propellant ratio?.. and if so in which direction?

Thanks for your help!

Wouldn't the ratio just be that? Isn't this an ISP knob to turn? It goes directly to efficiency, I think. How much fuel for a given thrust, etc...

That said, I don't know for certain, but I would check that number as well. (It'd be the thrust curves... Are they marked atmospheric curves in engine modules? I think that's them...)

oops. yeah you are correct.

Increasing ISP in atmosphere curve {} is the way to do it.

Key= # % specifies ISP% at ATM #. Key = 0 300 means 300 ISP in vacuum. Key = 1 180 means 180 ISP at sealevel.

thrust curves specify thrust based on velocity, for atmosphere engines.

Thanks for your help!

I have tried toying around with ISP as well as the ratio, but just can't seem to get the result I am after.  Do fuels have values attributed to them in a different location, that may be affecting this? or is the rate at which the fuel burns exclusively determined by the the engine cfg?

I will keep experimenting.

EDIT: after much trial an error I got it working. I did indeed need to continue playing with the ratio and isp until it was at a workable value.

Thanks again!
