I recently found that it was pretty fun making KSP stuff in blender, so I wanted to show them off in the right place, here at the forums
I've used Blender for a couple of years on and off, but never really had a project or anything "serious" to make in it, so it's nice to take these KSP models/renderings a bit more serious.

If you want, you can request a particular part to be made. It would be nice to have a bunch of models to build actual rockets in blender with, so making parts that you *want* to see would just be a bonus for me.

First off, the one I started with. it's a stayputnik probe with an additional details for higher realism. I modelled everything from scratch, which was fun but took a lot of work. 6 intense hours or so

Later I tried making the rest of the rocket like I use to, again, everything modelled, nothing imported from the game.

but then I went 'Meh' and created the IONprobe instead, still no importing. I was happy with this one.

And THEN I actually imported the science lab but it'd be such a drag to model it all from scratch, so I used the model as a base and improved upon it, adding realistic windows, materials, bevels etc, about 50k polygons in the end, totally manageble.

Then, lastly, I tried making the fun-tire of go-fasts, and it took a lot of work, almost not worth it, but hey, squad puts a lot of work into their stuff to, and I wanna get professional some day..

The tyre was imported from the game, cleaned up (a lot), and added a whole bunch of details and materials etc.


I made all of these in a weekend, which is actually pretty mental for being me, but I was highly enthusiastic at the time. Mildly put.

Oh, alright. Haven't checked out the pictures yet, but I will.

Do you plan on creating mods out of these models some day?

Nah, they're basically the stock parts, just visually more refined.

It somehow looked more awesome when I created the wheel, but that's a common thing when doing art-or-such. Things often look worse the day after.
