Hello and one UI question

Hello.

I checked out 0.13.3 (free version) and want to know if certain annoying UI bugs are fixed in new version.

UI problems that annoy me:

- Highlight shows only one of modules (when there is few of them thanks to symmetry options) when mouse hovers over merged modules at right.

- Symmetry changes sometimes without reason.

- no way to directly put rocket module between already installed modules. You can only detach half of rocket, add module and reattach it under.

- Speaking of it, detaching half of rocket cause staging setting to be forgotten (wat?). Attaching it again make program guess incorrectly more often that not.

All toegher make very annoying to tweak a little moe complicated rocket. (for example, two stages + two set of side stages)

Detach second stage, attach forgotten SAS, attach rest, try to fix dumb staging, realize you cannot see if set of decouplers+solid stages are in proper order. And highlight of it is almost useless.

Demo version are supposed to entice users to buy full version, not annoy them to no end, right?

Welcome to the community!

Problem #1: When you mouse over a module, it is supposed to only highlight one, but when you take away one of the symmetrical ones, the others will be taken away.

Problem #2: Symmetry will change if the selected symmetry is not compatible with the place you are trying to put a part on.

Problem #3: Not a bug. Not fixed in ).15 or above

Problem #4: Not sure.....

Hope this helps!

Welcome to the KSP Forums!

By clicking on the merged modules icon in the staging stack, you can get it to split into it\'s individual parts. Then you can find the sigle one you\'re looking for.

Symmetry can change if you drag a part across something on the ship that is set to a different symmetry. If you\'re careful about your camera angle, you can avoid this. It\'s something that probably should be looked at but is a rather minor issue in the large scope of things.

I\'m not sure how else you would insert a part in the middle of a stack without pulling it apart and reattaching it. Do you have any suggestions?

Staging has been improved a bit but can still get a little wonky. The best thing to do when that happens is to save and reload the ship. This will usually correct the problem.

If you\'re worried that your $15 would be wasted in purchasing the game, just remember that you will be getting many updates and things will only get better as development proceeds. You\'d be hard pressed to find a better bang for your buck in entertainment.

Happy Launching!

Thanks for answers!

Yeah, but logically if it is merged, highlighting icon of merged module should highlight all individual modules in pack, not single random module. I use it to check if staging is in proper order and with only one part highlighted, it is very hard to check decouplers. Highlight itself could be more visible too... ah well.

It happens without any warning and I find it confusing. Unfortunately, I am not sure how to fix it UI-wise.

Well... now when I think about it, pulling apart and reattach would be sufficient, provided it works properly.

Staging has been improved a bit but can still get a little wonky.

I got impression that when reattaching, program tries to recalculate possible staging configuration from scrath (ant it can have different result from staging created when user manually add components, not to mention cases when user changes staging itself too)... deattached parts should remember their staging config. Sure, multiple detach, reattach at varying points would eventually messed up it beyond recognition (forgetting all manual changes), but at least it would work for simple cases as 'adding forgotten SAS in middle of rocket' without hassle.

Welcome!

In 0.15 I have not had issues adding ASAS or the like in the middle of the stack. It seems to hold my options. Another thing that I had previously had an issue with, but seems to be gone, is that struts and fuel lines will reattach as before if I detach and then reattach a part.

Happy flying. And remember, if you spend more the 3 hours playing this, its already cheaper then going to watch a movie.

Okay, I bought it. I am happy to confirm that most of issues in 0.13.3 does not appear to happen in 0.15.2 - highlight is on all merged parts, is better visible and decouplers are actually possible to select. We will see how it manage more complicated rockets. For now I have six corpses and two failed attempts to orbit. One was almost. Almost.

Ony one downside - FPS is very low. :( Used workaround given on forum for now, but it really will have to be optimized. With many new things planned in future this will get only worse...

You have quite pricey movie tickets. ;)

Being at an alpha stage, the game is very unoptimized. This is something usually left towards the end of the development cycle. There is also a fair bit of debug code that affects performance. The best you can do for now is turn things down and run at a lower resolution.

Yeah, it sucks, but that is the nature of alpha stage software.

Cheers!
