[Atmoplane] The Swallow

Recommended Posts

Ladies and gentlekerbals, today I present to you CG Ventures\' Swallow. The Swallow is a simple craft, perfect for use as a trainer or exploration vehicle.

It has a range of over 1,000,000 kilometers* and a top speed of 715 m/s**. It has been tested as zoom-climb capable up to 20,909 meters. It has enough fuel for approximately 30 minutes of full-throttle afterburners. During one test flight, which occurred mostly between 14,200m and 15,300m, the Swallow flew at an average of 532m/s - that includes takeoff and the climb to altitude.

Takeoff is smooth and only requires approximately 450 meters of landing strip - although it can be done in less by experienced pilots, it is recommended to keep the autopilot (SAS) on during takeoff to avoid destroying the tail as you pull up. The Swallow can be independent of the runway at approximately 83 m/s.

As far as maneuverability goes, well, she\'s no Broadwing, but is adequate enough. She\'s also light enough to make unpowered landings feasible. The Swallow comes in several variants, the first being the one you see here in these images. These additional variants are the Swallow-B, which carries a large volume of dumb gravity bombs; Swallow-M, which carries eight unguided missiles; and finally, the Swallow-R, which is simply a Swallow with rocket-assisted takeoff.

*Including gliding

**During shallow dive, not level flight - level top speed approaches 675m/s.

Please note: you will need r4mon\'s fixed camera plugin and cockpit .cfgs as I have installed them and don\'t intend on removing them. I apologize for the inconvenience this may cause you, but trust me, it\'s worth it - and completely optional just in case you don\'t want to use it, so you will have lost nothing by installing it.

You will also need JAWRD modular missiles for the Swallow-B and Swallow-M. Probodobodyne is required for Swallow-B Cluster Proto, and NovaPunch is required for all models, including the base.
