FL-T400 fuel tank and MK1 Liquid fuel tank; their mass'; bug?

Recommended Posts

(from version 1.1.2) Hey guys, so I'm looking at the mass values of the MK1 Liquid fuel tank and the FL-T400 fuel tank. Despite the MK1's description saying the liquid fuel is lighter, this does not seem to reflect in the weight of the fuel tank. Both tanks weight the same, 2.25t, and the mass values of liquid fuel (.90t) to oxidizer (1.10t) in the FL-T400 tank add up to the mass of liquid fuel in the MK1 tank, 2.0t.

I understand the fact that liquid fuel in the game might weigh less then oxidizer, but I could have sworn in 1.0.5, it actually mattered, and a full FL-T400 weighed slightly more then then a fuel MK1 liquid fuel tank..

Could someone un-confuse me on this please

AFAIK, LF and Ox have always had the same masses (5kg/unit). So 200 units of LF+O would weigh the same as 200 units of LF. Though with 1.1, the dry tank masses might have been changed.

The liquid fuel tank had its fuel quantity raised in one of the recent updates to bring its mass/volume up to a similar level to the liquid fuel/oxidiser tank. The description was probably there to try to explain the low mass/high volume of the part even though the fuel has always had the same weight per unit .

No, even in 1.0.5 (and 1.0.4) they massed exactly the same. The cake is a lie.

But in 0.90 and 1.0 (and all before) the part weighed 0.9 tonnes and only had 150 liquid fuel in it despite having similar dimensions to the 2.25t rocket tank.
