Kraken drives: are they still possible?

I just need confirmation. I mean, lander legs now have a "blocked" icon, so clearly they can tell when they're being clipped into stuff. gears also seem to ignore parts they're clipped into, and wheels just break. I saw danny2462 making all these awesome kraken drives easily, but now, i'm not so sure.

Has anyone made/tried to make a kraken drive?

That was in the experimental version. Sadly, wheels and legs have now been "fixed." I've tried to make one, and have failed.

Wait! Maybe there's hope. I've found one type of kraken drive that still works, and that's the ladder drive:

It's reliable, but it requires a kerbal, is prone to crashing the game, and only generates a few m/s of acceleration at most. Still, i suppose it's viable.

Maybe there's more hope in the bugs with the klaw, but i'd have no idea how to reverse engineer them.

Landing legs still cause phantom forces, it's just different than before.  They don't have to be clipped now..
