Space Exploration System Collaborative Project [Make A Reuable Shuttle Orbiter!]

Recommended Posts

A long time ago, in a forgotten realm of the Rocket Builders, a group of insane users decided that they should make a space shuttle that is actually reused rather than recovered. It was to be known as the Space Exploration System (SES)! These mad men rapidly got to progress, however in the folds of time, it has all been forgotten. However, the time has come to revive that concept and bring it further, better and beyond!

If you would like us to make this work, then please help! Any assistance is accepted :D !

Like how the original program ran, here is our stages of development, with the current stage in bold.

  • Design
  • Concept
  • Testing
  • Finishing
  • Finalized Testing
  • In Operation
  • Retired

We would like to use a mk3 shuttle if at all possible.

Just one question... how do we "reuse" a shuttle since once you jettison the boosters and tank, there's virtually no way to reattach new ones?

We can spawn new boosters but they'll attach via docking ports. Everything on the booster can have standard decouplers since it's not connected to the orbiter.

so how do you connect the boosters to the shuttle? Are you looking at vertical or horizontal launch configuration?

Right now, I am very frustrated as I cannot seem to get a decent looking shuttle to work. Apparently, it's heavy at the aft end and spirals downward after SRB separation and velocity drop.

It depends, we can go like the Space Shuttle or dreamchaser- the engineers decide!

Sounds like a common problem. When in the VAB, turn the thrust limiter on the SRBs off and drain their propellant and then check where you CoM and CoT is, remember you want the CoT to be going through the CoM. Also remember that the CoM will slowly move down and closer to the orbiter as fuel drains.
