Here is the challenge: get to both poles of Kerbin (in any order)

You can launch vertically or horizontally, can go to orbit or whatever (Heck, you can go to the mun if it helps) and can use any mods but mechjeb or hstwcart and anything similar are banned.

You must have proof that you have been to both poles in the same flight.

Thanks to Bluejayek, there are now two categories: 1. Get to both poles and 2. Get to both poles and back to KSC.

You should step up this challenge. Land at both poles, and return to KSC. I will attempt this later today!

Attempt #1

I decided to use one of my earliest planes because I alreaady tested it and it qualified for atleast half around the planet.

I present to you: Space Derp MKIII

Front

Side

Rear

Bottom

I can read your toughts and you are thinking: Wtf is this... thing?! Can it even fly?

1. Im not fully sure what it is.

2. It can fly, you just run out of runway taking off and its actually super manouverable for what it is, heck I did a 180 degree turn midair almost in place during this, cost me 7km in altitude tough.

Why would I do a 180 turn? I figured I might be able to make it to the other pole if i didnt attempt to go around the whole thing since I already proved I can only go half the planet.

Mission Progress:

Liftoff 2nd attempt 1st seperated the cockpit from the rest at the end of runway

33 minutes in, Northpole reached, proceeding with the craziest turn ever in plane history. Too bad I was too busy trying to not die to take any pictures of the turning process.

Map view of the Northpole

1 hour in, passing KSC

1 hour 10 minutes majority of engines shut down due to running low on fuel, running on 2 engines from this point on.

1 hour 22 minutes managed to stop the falling at 789 meters above water level, 50 degree angle required just to not fall down.

Side view of current situation this is not how you are supposed to fly a plane!

1 hour 39 minutes completly out of fuel, splashdown within the minute, Southpole not even close to being in the horizon.

Well... Back to the drawing board.
