Does anyone use kiloseconds?

Julian time is kind of like this, but for days. No pesky weeks, months, or years here. Just counting days.

I think that 60 is acually a really good number for minutes/hours, as it is divisible by 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 10, 12, 15, 20, and 30. 10 is honestly pretty bad when you think about it. Twelve is better, because it supports more fractions. 60, while much larger than 12, supports even more fractions.

ks would be pretty useful compared to days/years. Days and years are Kerbin-centered quantities, they're largely irrelevant anywhere else.

The second in KSP should be a Kerbin-centered quantity too as a second is derrived from a minute, minute from an hour and an hour from a day. The day being of course derived from a full rotation of Kerbin.

But I think that'll really mess with everyone's brains, not to mention that the measurement of time will be different on every body you visit...

The second was originally derived from 24h in a day, 60 minutes in an hour, 60 seconds in a minute. But no longer; now it's its own thing (defined to something very close to the original), so that it doesn't vary like the length of the day does.

. It's not like Bytes where "Kilobyte" actually does make sense,

Just chiming in with a cheerful fact. Kilobytes are 1024 bytes, contrary to the normal use of 'kilo', Unless you're using 'marketing kilobytes' and then it is actually 1000. I guess units are weird no matter where you look!

Nope, Kilometergrams are my thing.

I once saw a centimetergram (actually gram*centimeter) used in a biology reference as a measurement of energy. Perhaps you're not too far off, in the end!

Cheerful facts, away!
