I got 8 core 4.0 GHz AMD FX 8350 procesor with 16GB ram and AMD HD 6870 2GB card on board. From patch 1.1 I got unreal problem with high CPU usage in KSP. Looking for fix problem I found this solution.

1. KSP in VAB take up to 70% power of my CPU

High usage

2. Find out what proces make problem in Task Manager (CTR+SHIFT+ESC) select (SHOW ALL USERS PROCES ).

I found than the svhost.exe consume lot of CPU usage with KSP

sample

3. All you need is switch off one service witch this proces use. To do this right click proces and select go to service or click tab service

sample

4. then click Service button to open services

sample

5. Find service Windows Update

sample

6. Right click and select Properyties

sample

7.  Now in star type select OFF or Disable and confirm OK or Apply

sample

8. Last thing is come back to Services right click on Windows Update Service and click STOP

sample

After this my CPU cool down to round 40% of usage and allow me to fly without micro freez

svchost.exe is infamous for consuming a lot of CPU.

Problem is, svchost.exe isn't the problem -- it's just a "service host" which runs other things inside it for Windows.  So it's whatever svchost.exe is running, which can be anything from printer drivers to system services, that is eating 100% CPU, and figuring out which that was used to be really difficult.  These days there's a setting in it inside Task Manager somewhere to reveal its sub-process things, I think.

You can turn Windows Update off. I have it set so that it only notifies me of updates, otherwise the damned thing downloads all manner of stuff in the background which interferes with a lot of (other) things I do.

The trouble with that setting, which I too have enabled, is that it likes to ignore it when it feels like it.  That or it's just scanning for updates to notify me of, but doing so in a manner that bogarts half my cpu time and assaults the HD, toileting performance and producing annoying amounts of heat.

Another similar would be those cloud storage apps, like DropBox or GoogleDrive or my Asus's SyncFolder... constantly polling to make sure things are sync'd.

Yes, this is correct. It has become second nature for me to completely exit Dropbox, Outlook, and OneDrive before I play KSP.  I also close out Office Cloud, Documents Cache and anything that has HP in front of it. By doing this, I get higher frames per second and smoother game play.

Yup, dropbox, steam, and anything else that likes to run off and do things on its own promptly get closed before firing up KSP.  I also close chrome to stop gmail and youtube from getting up to shenanigans (and releasing a lot of RAM) and restart vivaldi to release all its RAM save for the one or two tabs I might want open while playing, and stop any bad actor scripts spamming polling, push content, or threatening to push a video ad.  (Too lazy to bother with noscript and adblock would deny precious revenue to sites I like unless I weren't to lazy to whitelist 'em all.)

Svchost is really big problem in windows 7 these days, True problematic service is actually windows update, Maybe it's just me but i kinda feel like microsoft intentionally making some tricks with it.

Im myself using windows 10 but my two friend using windows 7 and both has problems with win update.

I'm not sure about LINUX but it help for my case at least in flight mode i don't have any lags at all and cpu is not overloaded. Mayby ther are still some loops witch force linux version to recalculate it over and over again its make all times when you write program. That the guys from kerbal make game not mean they don't make mistake and sometimes its realy hard to find where this dot need to be or not.
