Allow Actions on Inactive Vessels

This development's implementation can only be sufficiently explained when related to its use with a mod, such as Remote Tech. Briefly:

Remote Tech requires line of sight, but this is not my concern. It allows you to pre-program burn times so as to allow a burn when there is no line of sight to the vessel. In other words, you can tell a vessel to burn x delta v in x direction at x time.

However, unless this has been changed, you need to be active on the vessel (e.g. - you cannot be sitting at the base and fast forwarding time and expect the burn to occur; while you have no direct control over your vessel if you have no line of sight, you still have to have the vessel "active" to allow the burn to occur).

 

What about allow vessels to commit actions without being active? This could have implications on UKS orbital resupply (never used the drones but I assume this is how they work) and other potential mods that have not been created because of the restriction.

 

There may be rough implications, such as an executed burn during a fast forward of 100x, so feel free to discuss those limitations.

Another potential implication in stock KSP is controlling another craft from the view of an adjacent, different craft. Implementation seems odd because we aren't used to the idea, but is applicable where you want to stop a ship from rotating that you are trying to connect to/dock because there is no kerbal in that ship or whatever the reason (and you need to have the ship active to engage SAS, etc.)

This mod you say. So you want this as mod, not stock?

That means you had to post this in "Addon Discussions" not in "Suggestions and development"
Unless you want this stock, which probably isn't going to happen as it's a very user and realistic specific request.

I know there is a programmable autopilot mod, whether it can control inactive vessels, I don't think so, KSP doesn't allow this. And my understanding is that the engine that KSP runs on, does not allow it being programmable to make it work that way. So even if you and Squad want this desperately, it cannot happen.

Although you might get more direct assistance (if there is any) had you put this in the proper forum section.

I was not seeking assistance and this development suggestion, if it were to occur, would have to be to the core programming.

I have changed the introduction to prevent further confusion.
