Console KSP Lifespan

I don't think it will last very long. The game is going to be extremely hard on console and people will have to relearn or just learn the game again. No mod support either would be a slap in the face too.

No, you're right. You're not. Which part of this was positive?

Which part of it was? it's concern, I want the game to boom on consoles, I've put more hours into KSP on computer than any other game, and I look forward to doing the same on console.

It's a question. He's not trying to trash it, he's just seeing what other people would think.

Which part of it was positive? And, for bonus points, which part of it was not an hilariously leading question?

Console critics don't make console games either. They play them. But I'm sure you were going somewhere relevant here.

Well, SQUAD hasn't even previewed them or showed us a closed alpha or beta. We're not going to know until Monday. It will probably be a whole other game. We don't know. But you don't have to be the way you are now about this.

You're right. We don't know. So it's unfair to have an opinion one way or the other. How does that tie in to "the way I am now about this"?

You just seemed defensive, or maybe even mad. I'm sorry if you aren't or are, but I guess you are right.

Yeah, right again. I bring reason in to a discussion about how porting KSP to consoles will destroy everything, and I'm the one who's mad. You're on a roll.

Dude, have a Snickers bar.

Like minecraft on console vs minecraft on PC, it's going to be a somewhat different game.

Remember, these will be primarily new players, ones who haven't spent the last 4 years wringing out every possibility of the game;  they will also be console players, used to the limitations console games face in general.  I think they will also be somewhat younger on average.

So, they're not going to run around in circles and tear their hair out like distressed rabbits.  Instead, like minecraft on console vs minecraft on PC vs minecraft on tablet, there will be relatively separate playerbases.  That is what everyone is really dreading, I think, an influx of newbies.  Too bad.  We were all newbies once.

Squad ought to start setting up wiki and forum spaces for that pretty much immediately though, if it's not there on launch there will be confusion.

Someone likes their consoles a little bit too much.

Can't beat the controller for first person games (imo)

Really? What kind of first person games? Obviously FPS like Battlefield are far better on mouse simply from a precision standpoint, and I'm having trouble coming up with other first person games that wouldn't suffer from that. 3rd person games (like the Witcher, Dark Souls, etc) definitely work well with controllers, but first person with a controller is extremely clumsy and a player with mouse+keyboard will beat a controller any day of the week. A game like KSP might be even worse though, since it literally relies on the mouse in the way that the rest of the operating system does (i.e. clicking on things on screen, not just moving it to look around), so I'm interested in seeing how Squad prevents selecting things from becoming typing-with-a-controller-simulator-2016.

I think the question is a legitimate one. I certainly wouldn't have stuck with KSP for so long without mods.

That said:

- We don't know if the console versions will support mods or not. (I suspect not, but that hasn't been officially confirmed afaik.)

- We don't know how good/bad KSP will be on consoles. Will it perform adequately? Will the control scheme be serviceable? Will it update at the same pace as the PC version?

These questions are, IMO, the critical ones to KSP's success on consoles.
