2 q's; Rescue mission untracked ship/what to do with sats

Recommended Posts

How on earth am I supposed to rescue a kerbal from an untracked ship, that doesn't appear to let me track it?  This is the second contract for it, I'm sure there is some trick that I'm missing.  And while we are on the picture, that orbit isn't the pod, it's a polar orbit I did for a mission in career.  Do you guys just terminate them when you are done to avoid clutter and too many tracked objects to be useful, or keep them around?fkCGKFy.png

I have never had an untracked rescue, so I can't answer the first question except with a guess. Maybe if you send a little fast probe out to that last location, you can just search around and reacquire the target?

As far as the second question goes: I usually try to use the same satellite to cover multiple satellite contracts. I always try to have the final contract be around, say, the Mun or Minmus. That way, a satellite that has reached the end of its lifetime becomes either an orbiting fuel tanker, or a space tug. With that in mind, I overfill them with lots of fuel, and I put a klaw on the nose (if I've unlocked it at that point). So my ex-satellites permanently remain semi-useful.

I notice you're hiding debris.  The ship might be considered debris if it happens to be something that's not a cockpit.  (Convenient sometimes.  There's labs around I might use once my kerbals invent the Claw.)

Also, what level is your tracking station?
