RCS Controls, bugged?

Hello, new to the game although admired for some time but dislike using my PC for games so I have picked up via recent console release.

 

I have no idea if the control is supposed to work like this but I am having an issue with RCS (during Docking tutorial).  Were I activate it, and do what the game says to move close to X object with "Left stick vertical".  The RCS indeed do function but the pitch is also still in use so im just spinning like a crazy person in space.  I dont know if im doing something wrong or this is a bug so if someone else can enlighten me, id much appreciate it.

While in docking mode, the X or Square button will toggle between linear and rotational control. they can't both be used at the same time currently.

In case you're playing on the xbox, it's the A button to toggle between control modes (rotational/translational) while in docking mode.

I am a bit bummed with the RCS. On PC I would use them to do orbit corrections or minor burns, but I can't figure out how to pulse the RCS so I go forward without switching to Docking mode, which is just awful.

I never got the hang of docking mode on PC. I just used IJKLH and N  in staging mode for translation, so it took me a while to adjust on the Xbox version.
