This explains why Nadph and NADH are so important for life. 

Thus basically you can rule out worlds where the dynamics quickly eliminates hydrogen from the surface.

More like rule out such worlds for not having life terribly similar to Earth's.  That one stepping stone between RNA reproducing it self and fossil life exists doesn't imply that it is a mandatory step, just that if it exists, it probably will be taken on some other planet (we don't know if hydrogen-eating life out competed other life on Earth or not).

We'd probably know some day whether we can rule out other possibilities for the emergence of life(tm) on earth, it might have left genetic traces. Water is the base of life, nevertheless i hope it proves premature some day to say that the above rules other processes out.

Also it can be questioned whether the concept of competition applied to the very early forms as they were apparently confined to very narrow niches. I'd rather think of symbiosis at that time.
