Double tap to stage

I don't know about anyone else but more than a few times I've accidentally bumped the space bar and staged prematurely, whether it was an orbital insertion or a re-entry and parachutes ripping off, it can ruin a mission. I know what everyone must be thinking, "keep your hands away from the spacebar!" and I do. Most of the time its purely accidental, a water bottle falls over or my elbow hits it etc. Im thinking it would be great to have a toggle button to double tap for staging this way early staging mishaps could be avoided.

You can lock staging so the spacebar doesn't accidentally stage with Alt-L. If you use this all the time your staging will be even more safe from accidental staging than it would be with a double spacebar tap.

Stage lock may be the best hidden feature of KSP.

Strangely enough double tapping to stage is often an accidental feature (what most call a bug).  It's been around forever, it's just not predictable. It's really a bit irritating.

Ironically for me, it's present when I don't need it (such as during launches where I'm actively managing everything or landings) and doesn't when I need it.

I simply reconfigured Numpad '0' to staging.

I found using the same key for staging and for rotation in docking mode to be troublesome.
