Do grabbers work on planet?

No, claws do not grab celestial bodies other than asteroids.

It'd be nice if they did.  You could just grab the mun and presto, you're attached to your munbase and can transfer fuel and stuff.

I wonder if that's a good reason to land asteroids on the mun.

Stop giving me ideas.

I have enough trouble developing RCS thruster blocks for asteroids.Now I'll keep thinking of landing one on the Mun or Minmus. A nice Class E on Great Flats...

It'd also be a good way to find out what the impact resistance of an asteroid really is...
