Crash on load to pad

Recommended Posts

I've been getting a weird black screen crash on load to the launch pad today, and I'm not sure what's causing it.  I load my ship on the pad, it appears for a second, and then poof, everything except the HUD goes black, and when I go back to the Space Center I just see stars.  It does not seem to effect craft that I've already launched, just ones that I've loaded to the pad.

I have a whole bunch of mods, but I'm not sure if one is the culprit, because I'm pretty sure I've removed any changes I made immediately before it started.

here's my output file:

anything?   I'm at a complete loss here, I have tried everything short of starting over from scratch. ;.;

I've already gone though and deleted everything I had installed for the entire day before the crash started happening, I don't know what could possibly be causing it, and I can't make heads or tails of that output log.  WHAT IS GOING ON HERE!?!

99% chance it's one of your mods that is causing the problem. Generally the first step to troubleshooting modded installs is to get a clean one and then re-install your mods one by one, and see if the problem occurs with each reinstall. Once the problem starts happening again you'll have figured out which mod is causing it.

Once you've figured out what mod is causing it your options include making sure the mod is up to date and that the mod is running in a compatable install of KSP. (Also make sure the mod is installed CORRECTLY, I cannot count the number of times that I've had crashes and problems because there was a gamedata folder inside of my gamedata folder.) If the mod simply refuses to work despite being up to date then you probably have a bad mod, just ditch whatever mod seems to be causing the problem.

Going through one by one and re-installing mods can be slow and checking for the crash, but its the price to pay for running heavily modded installs.

Ok, I have no idea what caused the problem in the first place, but I think I've fixed it.  There seemed to be a corruption somewhere in my mod files, either in RPM or firespitter.  Again I have no idea where or how, because I had those both working for quite a while and hadn't changed either of them prior to the crashes starting, but I broke down and started methodically reinstalling my mods from the original downloads and now it works.
