Interloper

Returning from a therapeutic retreat, I was suffering from the effects of AMS*, and headed to the west coast of Canada for a while.  The long walks in the cold winter dark night seemed to rejuvenate me. This island was a lovely place to visit but I am not certain I would want to live there.  You see the weather is frightful and the cold wind could literally kill you.

The plane trip was boring up until we crashed.  Thrown into the wilderness I was surviving on what little I could find.  Cat tail stalks with reishi mushroom soup and rose hip tea allowed me to travel and make it to the next destination and another day. Sometimes I would find a cave to warm up in and wonder how many more days will I survive.  The journey ended on day 54 while struggling to find food.  Even though I had crafted a bow, arrows were not at the ready.  The wolf charged and I drew my improvised shank and tried to fend off the beasty but slipped into a long dark sleep.  Now I find myself here back with the kerbals.

Yeah, those Long Dark days and nights can get pretty challenging. I was up there in the hinterlands too, for a while.. surprising we didn't cross paths. But then, perhaps it depends if you were a stalker or an interloper.

Good to see you made it back!

Do not be confused.  Bear island was the name of the place.

Yea. Bear Island is in the Barents Sea (Norway)... nowhere near Alaska, or the west coast of Canada. I think you made a wrong turn somewhere.

The Long Dark is an early access game that I picked up recently.  The game code is reaching age and the features in the developers roadmap look interesting and should add loads of different choices for play.

TLD Roadmap

More wildlife such as moose and cougar.  The upcoming update should have improved first person presence.  This could make fire making more interesting other than just clicking the mouse buttons and hoping the fire catches.  Also first person presence could be applied to fishing as well.

The item that caught my eye was Nordic Skis.  After playing TLD for about an hour thoughts of Nordic skiing sprang up from my recollections.  I totally involved myself with the art of waxing.  From hard glide wax to klister I started to understand what, how, when and why you apply waxes to skis.  Learned an important lesson: carry around various grip waxes during the springtime when the temperature fluctuates from -25 C to +10 C.

The spring season will be coded and the then full seasons.  Seasons I believe would make this type of game epic.

Seasons I believe would make KSP more epic.

It's also a fictitious location in the game under discussion.. :sticktongue:
