Drop testing parts could be a nice spin on part testing contracts.

I'd interpret some of the "landed at Kerbin" or "landed on the launch pad" tests as being drop tests.  It's not like the game describes exactly what the test is.

Hehe recently I've gotten in the habit of drop testing my career planes (to make sure they'll survive a hard landing) before actually flying them, so this wouldn't be much of a problem lol.

I interpret those as drop tests too, but we don't actually drop things.  Having contracts to drop parts seems "Kerbal" to me.
