How to livestream a console gameplay?

I'm not really a console person, but I believe you can connect the video outputs of the console to a computer's input given the proper hardware.  I know that PlayStation and I thing XBox have their own built in streaming services, but otherwise you'll need a capture card with RCA connectors.
