Ever since I updated to version 1.2, KSP seems to be a bit more laggy than before... Using a vanilla install (64 bit) I hardly ever get above the 30 FPS. This is kinda annoying.

Are any of you guys experiencing the same issue? Is there a way to solve this?

My set-up is:

  • CPU: I5 4690 (3.5 GHz)
  • RAM: 16gb DDR3
  • GPU GTX 970
  • OS: Win 10
  • Storage: SSHD

Strange, your setup is better than mine, although mine runs it way smoother. If you go to your settings, you can change the FPS limit. maybe you've set it to 30fps. Mine's 60 and in vanilla, I run around the 60fps...

Also, where have you installed your KSP?

Ah indeed, it has probably to do with your monitor. Basicly what V-sync means is that it holds the refresh rate of your video card the same as that of your monitor. So when your display is set to 75Hz (75 new frames per second), your videocard never sends more than that amount of frames per second to your display. If you disable the v-syns, it has to effects:

  1. your videocard isn't 'held back' by your display. (good effect)
  2. you can get the phenomenon 'tearing', this is when your monitor get's a new frame from your videocard when the last one hasn't finished yet.. (not so good effect)

For benchmarking the V-sync is disabled most time, because it can effect the performance of your videocard. Most time it's enabled for games beause normaly it looks better.

So if I'm right, please correct me when I'm wrong, a reason for your FPS can be that your FPS is held back by your monitor.

Hmm. Interesting. :) I didn't know that.

I'm using a 4k screen at 2k settings but I guess that's not really relevant. I use a display port (version 1.2) to connect the monitor to my graphics card and have the settings of the monitor set to display port version 1.2 as well.

I currently don't know what the refresh rate is.I'll have to check it out when I get home tomorrow.

Last week I did have some trouble with getting my monitor out of sleeping mode so I had to factory reset the monitor to get it back on. Perhaps this is where things went wrong.

Thanks for helping out. If you have any additional advice I would love to hear it. :)

I'll give an update tomorrow.  Darn  those real life obligations
