Forum posting issue

All,

I'm sorry if this is the wrong area to post this, but I couldn't figure out where to put this question.

When I try to respond to a post that is a response to another post, when I click "quote", it seems to want to quote the first person/post that may be 3 or 4 posts back in the specific little side discussion, rather than the person/post I'm actually trying to quote.  I can't figure out how this works, or I hava an issue with my browser or something.  Any insights?

You posted in the right place.

I see the same behavior sometimes, I think it happens when you start a post quoting the other person and then decide not to post it; when next you try to post in thread it remembers the quote.

The workaround I've found is to start the new post and remove the old quote by ctrl-clicking on it, then hitting the quote button on the post you do want to quote while the editor window is still expanded.

Hope this helps.

You can also quote text directly by highlighting it with your mouse cursor. After a moment a dialog window with "Quote this" will pop up. . .click on it and the highlighted text will drop into a quote box in the reply window. I've been able to use that feature to bypass this particular glitch.

This thread is quite old. Please consider starting a new thread rather than reviving this one.
