rkman
On top of a command module attach a decoupler and on top of that a parachute with a few ladders attached to it and/or the decoupler. While out of the atmosphere before reentry extend the ladders then decouple the parachute, then use the craft you\'re in to give the parachute+decoupler a slight nudge (yaw or pan) otherwise the Kerbal is likely to shoot off at some speed upon EVA, then EVA, RCS to the chute and grab on to one of the ladders. The Kerbal might \'warp\' off the ladder a small distance (bug?), if that happens before entering the dense part of the atmosphere there is a chance to get back on. Continuously climbing back and forth on the ladder seems to prevent the Kerbal from \'warping\'.
