How do I edit the CFG files to get infinite fuel?

Recommended Posts

I was hoping to modify the stock 1M gimballing engine (the medium size one) to use no fuel but no matter what I do it doesn\'t seem to work. I have tried editing the CFG file and interestingly enough I can change the max thrust and min thrust but any changes I make to the fuel section seems to have no effect. Does anyone know how to do it? Cheers

If you\'re running 0.16, I imagine the liquid engines ignore the Fuel Consumption statistic if a specific impulse rating is provided.

Put Extremely Large Numbers in Isp = and vacIsp = , and while that won\'t result in 0 fuel consumption, it will result in ridiculously low fuel consumption, I believe.

Find the \'part.cfg\' of the fuel tank you want to edit, open it in a simple text editor and near the bottom there will be a \'// --- fuel tank parameters ---\' section.

Change the \'fuel = \' to some huge number like 9999. It\'s not infinite but it\'ll last a heck of a long time. Most likely more than you\'ll ever need.

If you do that the fuel will weigh so much that it will just destroy your craft. I know it happened to me.

That is because the system has changed in the last year. Now your fuel is the basis of the weight of your tank, you cant simply add a ton of fuel and have it maintain the weight.
