ISRU conversion rates

How do the conversion rates work for ISRU? I read the cfg files and it looks like the quantity doubles in the Ore to Fuel conversion. The cfg says .45 Ore turns into .9 LF

In testing, with no Engineer present, the ISRU converted 13 tons of Ore into 15 tons of LF. It looks like I ended up with more than I started with and this was without and engineer.

It shouldn't happen - non-monoprop conversion are mass-preserving by design (quantity doubles but density is half, so mass is conserved). Did you really count all the Ore tanks on your ship? It would be a bug if mass increases after conversion.

I just tested and didn't see mass increasing running Ore->LF unmanned.

Yeah, don't confuse the "units" amount of resources KSP uses to show how much is in your tanks with mass. It isn't mass. It's not even really volume either, it's just an arbitrary measurement that's different for each different resource.

Thanks. I'm pretty sure I was looking at tonnages (as shown in the right click menus for tanks) not the units. I'll try it again tonight and see what happens.
