SAS turning off?

I have run into a problem with the SAS turning off after launch. I have SAS available before launch and several seconds after leaving the pad...it turns off. Never seen this one before...anybody know what's up with this?

Let me add some details...

First, see this thread:

SO, I have turned off any requirements for a Comm network to allow remote control. I am using the "fly-by-wire" nosecone. I should have SAS control....and I do...until a few seconds after launch.

Did you put Batteries on?

Which probe core do you use beside the fly-by-wire?

i would check that you have power, but i would figure any first stage engine would be enough to supply power during liftoff.

By "turning off" do you mean that the SAS light goes out? Or does it turn into a pair of arrows, and your ship starts to rotate -- and therefore SAS seems to suddenly stop working even though it is shown as being active?

I have the OKTO core, which only has 10 electrical storage...and the SAS light goes out (it doesn't show arrows indicating it is working). I would think that the 1st stage engine would supply enough power...but I am adding batteries to see if it helps. I'll let you know how it works.

what engines are you using?

^ Some stock engines provide power, some don't provide any, and one uses power up real quick. Normally, the little battery in an OKTO should keep a ship running for a little over 5 minutes, all by itself. So something funny is going on if it's only a few seconds.

And, yep...power loss. I have to tell you that it is amazing to me that this combination has never come up as an issue in my career at KSP...but that is why we fly...and learn. I had an OKTO, with only 10 units of electrical storage, and a first stage of SRB's, which do not generate electrical power...and the rest is obvious. Adding some batteries solved the entire issue.

It always amazes me...the little things in KSP that just wait to jump up and bite you in the butt. I've been flying for over a year...and never saw this one coming.

haha ya that would explain it, im guessing you also had a reaction wheel aswell on there to drain it nice n quick lol

Only kidding,  a few days ago i had a ssto made with interstellar thermal Turbojets,  did a few runs to orbit before i found out that they don't produce power, was just lucky and fast the first few times, now bill and jeb are stuck in lko, probably the safest place for them tho.
