Shape Shifting Wing. NASA plane.

We need this sort of thing. And since it's NASA they have no excuse!! >< 8p

This would possibley allow helicoptors and they could allow it to be used as a swept wing. Or add a swept wing simultaneously. It would be a great new addition to the wings section.

Plus...
Wing shape has no effect on performance in KSP.

Exactly my thoughts... unless they're of the telescopic type and actually change area, simply changing the geometry will do diddly squat (at least for stock and that's what one would expect Squad to develop for).

I'm a space plane guy myself, and I think we're pretty well covered in this area at the moment.

Then again, aligning the development pipeline with what we already have and what most of the forum is asking for does not seem to be Squad strongest quality. Based on experience I'd say that we will have Mk IV plane parts before the rocket engines are overhauled.

I would hope stuff like that could be used as or added with swept wings and stuff to let you rotate parts or other various things. And telescoping could b nice. You could use it as a lever for stuff too. Basically stuff to give mechanical control of stuff when desired.

Wing geometry certainly does matter in stock KSP. If you have too much area forward and not enough at the rear the thing will flip around. In theory, an adjustable wing could be used to keep the CoM/CoL relationship where it should be no matter the fuel state or whether there's a payload installed or not.
