MIA and heatshield protection?

Recommended Posts

1) There are 3 kerbals going on course returning from minus. It will fly by mun and the ship will reach the PE of 40km of kerbin a few in games day later. I checked a few times everything was going right. But kerbals just disappear from the minmus returning ship after I jumped to another ship (probe) for something else. I went to astronaut complex and it said they are all MIA. The return ship haven't even reach mun yet.

So I let the probe alone and keep "playing" flying the ship until hitting the recovery button. Nothing goes wrong. Does anyone experienced the same issue. Is it a known karken?

2) Can heatshield protect deployed antennas from tearing off in aerobraking/ aerocapture? Is there anyways I can protect my long range antennas during landing too? Since the planet doesn't have network yet and I need to remain connected with kerbin or I can't even control it. Thanks

1. Is your game modded? Do you have a savegame from before the Kerbals disappeared?

2. A little bit -- a few percent. AFAIK, the big relay antennas are all rated for reentry. And then you have the surface mount Communotron antenna. Beyond that, I think all the others will break, no matter what you do.

Yes it is modded but it was all fine and I have a save before they get disappeared

For a modded game all I can suggest is to remove the mods one-by-one, load the savegame, do the munar flyby, and see if the Kerbals go MIA again. When you remove the mod that's causing the problem, the Kerbals will not go MIA anymore. And then you'll know which mod is causing it.
