Help with moding

Hello Forums! 

First time moder here, and i need a little help.

1) Can I create a folder for each mod in the GameData folder so that the address would look like: KSP_x64bit/GameData/NearFutureElectric/etc.

Would this break the game or is it ok, as it would make it easier to manage the mods. (I did not buy the game off of Steam, but off of the KSP website: www.kerbalspaceprogram.com/store)

Most mods are already in their dedicated folder inside GameData, so you don't need to do that. Otherwise it doesn't prevent any mods from working AFAIK.
