Transfer data from mobile processing lab to experiment storage unit

Recommended Posts

Hello all,

So I looked all over the net but could not find an answer.

I built a nice space station with a mobile processing lab, I successfully ran the experiment and gathered 500 science. I want to transfer that science to my pod containing a experiment storage unit and ship it back to earth. But it seems that I can't, my question, why?? It seems there is no way to do it, and I think it sucks. I prepared such nice little pods to bring back my science to earth

Experiment pods are for transporting experiments -- ie. bags of rocks.

Science data is created by scientists examining the rocks and forming hypotheses and conclusions. It is not a physical thing like a bag of rocks anymore. You have to transmit science data through an antenna. That's the only way to get it out of an MPL and back to Kerbin. (Other than recovering the entire MPL, which is silly to do.)

OK, ok, so yeah a temperature reading is more a piece of data than a physical experiment -- but still, the game makes the distinction. Raw experiments can be transported. Science data must be transmitted instead.

For some odd reason the experiment storage and the command pod can transport a bunch of rocks, but not a pen drive (or similar).

To make thing a bit less logical most experiments are just data (crew report, Mystery Goo Observation, Atmosphere Analysis).

The point is, the game don’t need to follow real life logic as long as it make sense in the game.

I see, thank you very much.

I was really confused about that. I hope that your answer will help other people.

Cheers mate

Hopefully you put an antenna on the lab :)
