Is my Career unrecoverable?

 I have a career-mode game saved under 'persistant' that will not load.

I installed mechjeb, but haven't really used it yet.  I think that this increased the frequency of game ctd events, but I'm not sure if I had any problem before.  Very rarely, I think.

I tried deleting the mechjeb folder, but that didn't seem to help.

Is my career game gone?  That would be a waste of more time than I care to admit.

Any possible fixes would be most welcome, though I have to warn you, I'm new to Windows 10 and don't know everything about any versions, though I started with Win 95

You might try making a copy of that file (to prevent accidents) and then using the KML tool on the file. It has some diagnostic and repair capabilities.
