The Mun is a Dangerous Place

This is sort of an expansion on a bug I noted in another thread, but some of you may have noticed that stages discarded straight into Mun\'s gravity well tend to fall through the surface to continue their orbits around the center inside Mun, rather than actually crashing as denoted by the negative altitude.

Well, apparently that\'s not the half of it. While testing out the new multi-trip landing module, I noticed a crap load of debris rising into orbit. After staring at its ascension for a bit, I was thinking that cannot be what I thought it was... And it was. The debris from my recently discarded second stage not only fell through the Mun\'s surface, but rose back up out of Mun\'s surface.

I just got rid of that crap five minutes ago!

The orbit into Mun.

Just to make sure it wasn\'t an isolated incident, I went back to check some of the other stages I dropped into Mun, and sure enough...

I mean, my piloting skills are hodgepodge challenge enough, but now I apparently have to worry about my own debris popping out of the Mun\'s surface to attack me at random! :D I assume you can prevent this by simply not dead dropping your stages into Mun (ie, discarding them while on a straight line decent) since that seems to be the main main instigator of this particular bug so far.

So beware. The Mun is a dangerous place. At least until .17 ;)

It happened to me too... bits of one of various missions to build a research outpost on the Mün were floating INSIDE the Mün. But I notice both of these incidents happened close to the mare the Arch is on -- [conspiracy] could it be the cause? [/conspiracy] --

This is Kerbal Space Program we\'re talking about...so it sounds more like a feature than a bug to me. =P

I dropped Bill Kerman into the Mun (accidentally?) and he did like... a lot of slingshots around the core and now is in Solar Orbit, but I can\'t switch to him. An error pops up (same one that popped up when i tried to switch to him in the mun) that says something like 'too many parts' or something and the game crashes. When I view him on the tracking station, it says he\'s on 'sub-orbital trajectory,' but when I go to map view from a ship, and zoom out, he\'s out around the Sun.

Bill has transcended into a parallel universe where the insides of planets are actually the outsides. From our perspective he appears to be on an escape trajectory out of the sun, but in the parallel universe he is actually on a sub orbital trajectory, just as the all-knowing tracking center reports. Since he fell through the surface of Mun, he is probably falling back towards the surface of the parallel moon. which may just be called Moon....
